Photoshop alternatives.
Need to adjust that photo? or create your own header for your blog? thinking of buying photoshop? alright stop right there! before going and spending that $$$money for Photoshop you might want to check out some cheaper alternatives or even better Free ones.
Photoshop: with out a doubt photoshop is the leading application on the market for professional Graphic designers, and the fact that the community and recourse available for photoshop far exceeds any other image editing program out there, but that comes with a heavy price tag of US$649!!! for CS 3 and a whooping $999 for CS 3 extended!!
so do you really need it? it depends if your intend to take a carrier in web/graphic design will unfortunately you have no choice since photoshop is the industry standards.
but if your that type of person that who dose it as a hobby or even small freelacing jobs then i would recommend other alternatives.
The alternatives.
The Gimp
gimp is a free open source cross platform image editing application that means it works on windows/mac/lunix, it has come along way since its first release, the new 2.4 version is a great alternative for photoshop, it has a growing community and tutorial sites and the best thing about it? well its free!

photoimpact:
the once Ulead photoimpact 12 but now Coral photoimpact 12 is one of my favorite image eidtors out there, it combines Raster and vector style editing in one package its great in designing website layouts and web based graphics while also being very powerfull in image enhancing. it has hundreds of pre packaged filters.
the down side of it that it has a very poor community around it you can hardly find any great tutorial sites out there. the price tag for photoimpact 12 is 89.99 USD is is great value for what you get.

Paint.net
A Microsoft backed program with a solid GUI, layer support, special effect tools and a wide variety of other powerful tools. Seems like a pretty good program, but I've never tried it out myself. Price: Free
